Atlantis Hard Fork Scheduled for September
The ETC developers have announced that Atlantis, a hardfork for the Ethereum Classic blockchain initially scheduled for July 2019, will finally be deployed next September.
Remember that Ethereum Classic is the original blockchain of Ethereum, but in response to Ethereum carrying out a hard fork in 2016, it has called Classic. The hard fork of Ethereum happened after the collapse of Ethereum-based project “The DAO” when a major hack exploited its security flaws.
Then, Atlantis is the hardork of Ethereum classic. It turns out that the developers of Ethereum Classic have agreed on the date of deployment of the update Atlantis, recently entered the test phase, this news was published in an article by ETC Classic Labs. The hardfork will see the day around September 17th at block 8 772 000 blockchain ETC. It aims to improve interoperability between Ethereum Classic (ETC) and Ethereum (ETH) blockchains as well as enhance network security.
It has also been added in the message that Atlantis is currently in the testing phase to eliminate any bug or unwanted consequences of introducing the new hard fork code into the original ETC schema. These are meant to:
- Develop high-quality blockchain software that preserves the security of the network
- Consider the opinions and concerns of the community
