The former CEO of Bitmain will launch a crypto-services platform

Matrixport, a new platform for cryptocurrencies

Jihan Wu, the co-founder and former CEO of Bitmain, has created Matrixport, a startup that will offer a trading, lending and preservation platform for cryptocurrencies.

Remember that last month, rumors were already asserting that the 33-year-old entrepreneur was preparing to start a new cryptocurrency business. This new project is now here. In fact, after founding and leading Bitmain, the largest bitcoin mining company in the world, the Chinese crypto-billionaire is betting on cryptocurrency again and now wants to offer crypto-services through a new platform called Matrixport.

“Wu’s latest project, called Matrixport, is a unique platform for trading, lending and over-the-counter custody of digital assets,” said Ge Yuesheng, CEO of Matrixport and Bitmain shareholder (up to 4 %), in an interview with Bloomberg.

It seems that Wu, Bitmain and “several major venture capital companies” have invested in the young company that wants to compete with services such as BitGo, one of the leaders in custody for cryptocurrencies.

It is good to know that Matrixport employs around a hundred people, including a number of former Bitmain employees.
