In terms of ticket demand, UEFA EURO 2020 is the biggest EURO ever held and will bring football closer to the fans than ever before, and UEFA explained on its website that it is using the blockade to improve the fan experience and make access to the stadiums “smoother and safer”. Tickets will be distributed through a revolutionary new mobile ticketing system based on a chain of blocks, which will make entry to the stadium easier, safer and more secure.
This initiative for the UEFA EURO 2020 mobile ticketing project builds on the success of the first UEFA League of Nations finals phase in June 2019, where more than 110,000 tickets were successfully delivered to mobile phones for all four matches.
UEFA first tested the system in August 2018 for a match between Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid, and then on an even larger scale for four matches in the League of Nations final in June 2019.
The use of this new technology will also enable UEFA to fight ticket fraud and counterfeiting more effectively.
《Fans who have purchased UEFA EURO 2020 tickets will receive their tickets on their mobiles via the UEFA EURO 2020 application available for download from May 2020 on Android and Ios. In addition, a commitment has been made to ensure the sustainability of UEFA EURO 2020 and having more than one million mobile tickets will contribute to this goal by significantly reducing the number of paper tickets compared to previous tournaments 》:UEFA said.
